Drywall Repair and Wallpaper Removal

Paint does not hide a bad wall. It highlights it. So we fix the wall first.

We patch nail holes, doorknob holes, and larger damage, fill settlement cracks, repair popped seams and nail pops, seal and repair water-stained ceilings, and re-texture where a patch needs to disappear into an existing finish. Most of this comes up as part of a paint job, but we will also do repair on its own if that is all you need.

Wallpaper removal is the other half of this service, and it is the job most homeowners start themselves and then call us about. Some paper peels off in sheets. Some was hung directly onto unprimed drywall and takes the paper face of the board with it. The second case is a repair job, not a removal job, and knowing which one you have before you start is the difference between a weekend and a month.

After the paper is off, the wall still is not ready. Old adhesive has to come off the surface completely or it will reactivate under fresh paint and bubble. That means scoring, soaking, scraping, and then washing the wall down and letting it dry before priming. We do the whole sequence, so what you get back is a clean, primed, paintable wall rather than a stripped one.

Ceilings are the other common call. A water stain from an old roof or plumbing leak will bleed straight through ordinary paint no matter how many coats you put on. It needs a stain-blocking primer first, and if the drywall itself was softened it needs replacing rather than covering. We check which one you have before quoting.

If you are getting a room painted anyway, bundle the repair in. The prep, the masking, and the dust control are already happening, and doing it in one visit is far less disruptive than two.

What That Covers

  • Nail holes, dents, and larger patches
  • Settlement cracks and popped seams
  • Water-stained ceilings sealed and repaired
  • Texture matching on repairs
  • Full wallpaper removal and adhesive clean-off
  • Walls left primed and paint-ready

Drywall Repair and Wallpaper Removal Questions

Can you paint over wallpaper instead of removing it? +

We do not recommend it. Seams telegraph through, and any moisture in the paint can lift the paper. Removing it properly is more work up front and a far better wall afterwards.

Will a patch be visible after painting? +

Not if it is finished and textured to match. Matching an existing texture is a real skill and it is where most DIY patches give themselves away.

There is a water stain on my ceiling. Can you just paint it? +

Only after the leak is fixed and the area is sealed with a stain-blocking primer. Ordinary paint will let the stain bleed straight back through. If the drywall went soft it needs replacing instead.

“Amanda, painted a bunch of different rooms in our house about 2-3 years ago. Kids bedrooms, kitchen, bathrooms, basement. She did a really great job with all the areas she painted. Her prices were also, affordable. I would recommend her to anyone I know needing a painter. We would also, use her again to do any painting we might need in the near future.”
